CHL Class Information - Weather is not an issue! (90% of class is indoors.)

Being on time is important. Classes start promptly at 8 am. Students may bring their own firearms to qualify, but they must be in good working order. Handguns will be inspected prior to qualification. If you wish, we have 9mm Glocks for use at no charge to you. Ammo is provided by the CHL student and is available in the Quail Creek Office. You will need a minimum of 50 rounds of ammo to qualify on the Texas State Course.
Class usually ends at 7 pm, however large classes my run slightly longer, so be flexible. A lunch break will be taken at around 12 pm, and there are several places to eat in the local area.
All Affidavits and the application are now done at the Texas Department of Public Safety Website. The state fee is $140.00 unless you are a veteran or senior citizen. The class cost for a new license is $99.95, and passport photos are taken the day of the class. Re-certification is conducted in a 4-5 hour block on the same day and is $59.95.
Fingerprints are now required to be taken at an L-1 fingerprinting location after the online Department of Public Safety application process is complete. There is a small fee for taking the fingerprints, and it only takes 10 minutes. Fingerprints and photos are no longer required for the re-certification process. Our fingerprints are now electronically transmitted to DPS, and this streamlines the process greatly.
Since we own the range, there are no range fees associated with the qualification. We encourage everyone to get a semi-automatic license, which will allow you to carry any legal concealed handgun. This will save you the time and expense of having to upgrade your license at a later date.

Night Classes & Defensive Handgun Training
We also offer a night class once a month in a two-night format. This breaks up the required 10 hours and works well for some people. The cost for the night class is $125.00, and a re-certification is $75.00. Due too the small size of these classes, passport photos are not taken during the night class.
Beyond the CHL classes, we offer Defensive Handgun Training to ensure that you are competent and confident handling firearms in stressful situations. What to Bring on Class Day:
- Payment is due on class day; cash, check or credit card.
- Handgun and ammo (50 rounds factory)
- Dress comfortably. The shooting will be done outside. Bring a light jacket for the classroom, if you tend to get cold. If we have bad weather, we may reschedule the shooting. Weather is not a factor, since 90% of the class is indoors.
